FAQ

Common questions

If yours isn't here, call and ask.

Should I be there for the inspection?

Yes, and it is encouraged. Lou inspects the home with the client, answers questions on the spot and gives advice about repairs as he goes. You will learn more in those two hours than from any report.

How long does an inspection take?

It depends on the size and age of the property. A condo is quicker than an 8,000 square foot home or a century-old brownstone. Lou will give you a realistic estimate when you call.

When do I get the report?

You receive a full written report with photographs, organized by system. A sample report is published on this site so you can see the format before you book.

Do you inspect brownstones and pre-war buildings?

Yes. Century-old brownstones and townhouses are a particular area of experience. Older buildings fail differently to new construction and need an inspector who has worked on them.

What areas do you cover?

Nassau, Suffolk, Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and Staten Island, and surrounding areas.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. New York State Home Inspector License #16000039568 and InterNACHI membership #09120509. The business carries $1,000,000 general liability insurance underwritten by Berkshire Hathaway Direct. Inspect This Home Inspections LLC is a U.S. Army veteran owned and operated business.

Do you offer any discounts?

$25 off for seniors, and $25 off for veterans. One discount per inspection — they cannot be combined. Mention it when you call and Lou will apply it to the quote.
